"The fool in me"

I really hate quotes. When people reference them off handedly, I think it is pretentious and cheesy. Whether it is something deep and philosophic or one so cliche that it could be found on a high school classroom poster somewhere, generally quotes just bug me. That's probably why I had such a hard time choosing one to put in my Senior Yearbook and ended up going with one by Clay Aiken that had the word "Bon-Bon" in it (true story).

But, the other day, I read this quote by Theodore I. Rubin (don't ask me who he is) and it has been running through my head ever since.
"I must learn to love the fool in me--the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my fool." -- Theodore I. Rubin
I love that! Happy Wednesday, everybody!
